scenery designer toolkit v1.0

3D Object Editor - NEW !

3D Object Editor is a tool that can view and edit 3D Objects. It is meant to aid people in designing scenery objects & buoys for Sail Simulator sceneries.

The 3D Object Editor has 3 main features:

  • Optimize 3D Objects
  • Add collision detection to 3D Objects
  • Create buoys for Sail Simulator sceneries

Along with the 3 most important featues (mentioned above) come a lot of different functions for renaming 3D objects, copying 3D objects, moving 3D objects, deleting 3d objects, etc..

File formats

The 3D Object Editor supports the following 3 file formats which can be viewed and edited:
  • VRML 3D Objects: The 3D Object Editor supports the VRML 2.0 (VRML97) file format except for PROTO's en EXTERNPROTO's. VRML files can be edited but can only be stored as Stentec 3D files. Save support for VRML files is not included.
  • Stentec 3D Objects: This file format has been developed by Stentec to add additional features to 3D objects such as collision items and mass. This file format should be used for all 3D objects in Sail Simulator
  • Stentec Buoy files A file format developed by Stentec to describe buoys which can be used in Sail Simulator. Buoy files will be treated as dynamic objects in Sail Simulator. See the powerboat in the bottom screenshot, defined as a buoy in Sail Simulator 4.2. Now you can define a real startship for your regatta.

3D-Object Editor can be downloaded for free. 3D-Object Editor should be treated as a tool being part of Stentec's Scenery Designer Toolkit.
